This was a somewhat hectic trip, just now getting to posting pics. Started with a somewhat nervous edge; we had done some maintenance on the backup generator and discovered an unrelated failing component. Got it fixed but the repair delay ate into our standard week of me being around to ensure all works well. Hence, the start of trip with a last check on the power system.
I ended up working in flight both directions, doing some proposals on the flights, in the lounges, probably in my sleep! Meant less time watching Hindi and Tamil movies, as well as ending up in seats with more laptop-room but not as much window fun, at least until I got onto United near the end. But, India is always a fun visit. Second time at Sangam conference, second time presenting. Jason joined in the fun this time, both to India and to the conference. The troublesome Mohan was there, of course, as were the entire contingent of India-based Oracle UX team – good to have everyone in one place.
While I was en route, India’s head guy de-monetized the 1000 and 500 Rupee notes. So, the Indian cash I had in my wallet became worthless, as money. I kept it and made it art when I got home. Also, while I was there, some rich guy with a bad hairdo was elected president back home. I briefly debated extending my stay in India to four years, but all I had on hand were 1000 and 500 Rupee notes…
So, the trip in a nutshell: shopping, movies (“Kodi”, highly recommend the soundtrack), meetings, cows, dosas and other tasty food, Marriott Whitefield, smog (yuck!) and … traffic! All in a blur going by way too fast and suddenly I was back in snowy Vermont planning for my next adventure.
No captions, sorry. You’ll probably figure it out, if not check out some of the earlier posts. I follow patterns 🙂
