Week of 01 December 2014

Off to London

Flying off into the night!

I’m here!

London Heathrow Airport from the tarmac.

London Heathrow from the shuttle bus

I get props worldwide 😉

Driving on the M25

My ride, a Mazda 6. Great car. Only problem I had was I kept parking on top of the right parking line.

Starbucks (yes, it’s average coffee here, too)

Wind power everywhere. This is cool.

Very cool.

Anyone parking on the left had lots of room!

Nuclear plant. NOT COOL!

Very NOT COOL!

(Okay, technically, because these are cooling towers, they are cool, but still NOT COOL!)

7 Chapel Quarter, Nottingham, UK.

That’s my hotel on the right.

Nottingham at night.

Indian restaurants everywhere. (Sadly, only Northern Indian cuisine. No dosa for Chris!)

Our choice on Sunday night, per Marc’s recommendation. I had a brief conversation with the owner in Hindi, and scored some good points as well as vegan-ized dishes. Bahut accha!

Viewing the rotary outside hotel lobby on Monday at breakfast.

Post-breakfast-pre-work destination – Caffe Nero – best coffee in UK in my humble opinion. Nero is on the right.

Nero!

University of Nottingham – Kings Meadow Campus. We’re going somewhere in there. This odd shaped thing is the cafeteria.

Ciber team: Marc, Stephen, and standing way in the back is Jeff.

Old TV studio

This is where the team had meetings week of Thanksgiving.

Only 4550 Miles from Delhi? We’re so close!

Nifty artwork at 4550.

Nottingham at night. The blurry green folks are dressed up as Robin Hood.

They have trams. Very forward. Foot traffic seems to be the way to go.

Christmas Village in the center of city.

Nottingham awakes outside my hotel window on Wednesday.

Inside The Exchange at Nottingham’s Jubilee campus.

This is a library…at least half of it!

…and the other half.

The Hopper Bus got me safely back to KMC

Statue outside the hotel.

Stephen, Marc and I go Mid-eastern at Marrakesh.

Tangine. Yum 🙂

The circle outside hotel, viewed from elevator.

My abode for the week.

Nottingham, already awoken.

Holiday Inn Express sign, viewed from the back.

Nottingham mid-morning.

Ahhhh, Nero!

Now, I can be awake 🙂

Time for a cruise back to Heathrow.

Damned Parking!

teehee!

How does one have a negative floor, much less TWO of them?!?

United Club, LHR

Time for a visit home.

Rain? In London? Go figure!

Wing. Keeping up the theme.

Heading west.

Getting closer.

Back in the USA. Newark Liberty. A short hop and I’m home for this trip!
Week of 15 December 2014

About to wing it for my second trip over.

And, my seat-mate is…. nobody!

We’re off!

Morning sun-over-London

London from many feet up.

We’re here!

Make a run for the Border! Er…maybe not a run, per se, since there are armed guards.

Nero! Time to wake up.

Hector!!! My man!

Hopefully this one parks a little better 🙂

Sunday afternoon stroll in Nottingham,

Hector – you like Nottingham?

Who dat?

Mmmmm…..chocolat!

Mmmmmm, Marrakesh!

Nottingham, Sunday night.

My room this time is a bit smaller. That and the plugs are in all the wrong places.

Marc took us to a Korean place. Yum!

Monday morning finds me looking for Nero!

Some vandalism is actually poetic.

Mmmmm, Curry Cafe!

Nottingham is very cool at night.

Chutney. The staff swore I would need a fire extinguisher for the heat of their dish. Pfffff….NOT!

Famous guy. Think his name is Hector.

Oh, and Robin Hood, too.

Castle Nottingham.

Me in an English Pub!

English energy drink. Not much bite.

Goodnight, Nottingham!

Friday morning at Renaissance @ Heathrow, 345am. These feets are tired!

Hector is cheery pretty much round-the-clock!

Queens Terminal, LHR

I have never looked forward to Peanut Butter Toast more than this morning.

Hector, twice as nice!

Time to wing it west.

Hey, you…wanna race?

(guess not!)

We’re off!

And as we descend into Bradley International Airport, Windsor Locks, CT, my UK trip comes to a close. Cheers!
